Shamilla Aasha 'Sacred Rhythms'
Shamilla Aasha is a practicing artist and teacher of art and design living in Bulawayo Zimbabwe. She obtained a Diploma in Textile Design from the Bulawayo School of Art and Design in 2000. Traditionally a mixed media painter, Shamilla now leans towards textile art, in the form of soft sculptures wall-hangings made from found objects. This is a work that speaks to connections we have with our ancestry through our genealogy. What are the patterns and rhythms created ...it questions the acceptance of ancestry in our lives and how those rhythms are carried through and passed on. Shamilla has participated in numerous exhibitions locally regionally and internationally.
