Elgin Rust 'Imphepho' 2018
Elgin Rust's monotype print using the Imphepho plant. Elgin Rust practice often starts with found objects that are transformed though art processes. For the Botanical Series she collected samples of Fynbos endemic to the Western Cape. These went through a three-part monotype printing process to record to what she terms a “poetic truth”. Through this play with natural paraphernalia and the unpredictable flow of creativity, she can collect, connect and re-curate already existing histories, stories, and physicality’s.
